Celtic fans brought Neil Lennon to tears as they supported him with cheers during the Celtic trouncing of Kilmarnock 4-0. Calling his name in chants produced a loud rour of support.
Four goals against Kilmarnock moved Celtic within one point of Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premier League at Rugby Park.
An emotional Lennon showed his appreciation at the end by going to both ends of the stadium to wave and acknowledge the people who chanted his name throughout the match.
Strathclyde Police revealed lethal letter bombs had been sent to the Celtic manager Lennon.
His assistant Johan Mjallby commented on the day.
Mjallby said, "What's happened to Neil is madness. That shouldn't happen to anyone and it's a shame.
"But I think he had a tear in his eye to know how much the Celtic fans care for him. Neil loves being the manager of Celtic and the fans think of him as their talisman.
"He's still the same guy and still in a good mood in spite of all that he's got on his plate.
"The rest of us, including the players, have been aware of extra security round about us. We see the telly and we read the papers so we know exactly what's going on.
"This is hard for Neil but he's a strong character and I think the game was a release for him."
Two goals from Kris Commons and others from Anthony Stokes and Gary Hooper sealed Celtic's win and Mjallby hopes the crushing of Kilmarnock can breed confidence in the team when they go to play Rangers on Sunday at Ibrox.
He said: "You get confidence from winning matches.
"Sunday will be a massive and difficult match but we're in a good frame of mind and when Neil went to the fans at the end it was to show his appreciation for the way they backed him."

Facebook Death Threat to Celtic Manager Neil Lennon
Tempers flare - death threats result.
Celtic boss Neil Lennon clashed with Rangers assistant manager Ally McCoist after a fiery Old Firm cup match that saw three Rangers players sent off. Celtic won 3-0.
Lennon, 39, has endured threats and abuse throughout his career and was forced to retire from representing Northern Ireland in international football after claiming he had received death threats from a paramilitary group.
He was the victim of a street attack in Glasgow in 2008.
He was on the touchline last night for Celtic's game at Kilmarnock despite the threat to his life.

March 2011 Two parcel bombs addressed to Lennon are intercepted
Detectives believe there are two more letter bombs in the postal system after Celtic manager Neil Lennon was sent a device intended to maim or kill him.
The revelation comes a day after a mock-up on Facebook of Celtic manager Neil Lennon in a blood-soaked football strip emerged in the wake of bombs being sent to his home. Pictures on the page, which was entitled ‘I Hope Neil Lennon gets shot’, showed the manager with bullet holes in his head, chest and groin. The site’s creator posted: ‘Neil Lennon deserves a bullet to the head!’ A similar site has previously been taken down by Facebook.
It raises fears that there could yet be injuries or deaths in the hate campaign which has already seen 'viable' explosives sent to Lennon, high profile lawyer and Celtic supporter Paul McBride and politician Trish Godman.
All the bombs were intercepted before they reached their targets.
Attention is red flagged on the problem of sectarianism in Scottish football.
Celtics, formed in 1888 by Irish Catholics, draws its support largely, but not exclusively, from Catholics.
Officers described the sending of the bombs as ‘despicable and cowardly’.
Scottish Football Association chief executive Stewart Regan said sending the bombs was ‘depressing and deplorable’, adding that sectarian hatred was an ‘unwanted poison’ in football.

Miroslav Klose scored twice as Germany cruised past Kazakhstan 4-0.
Erik Huseklepp rescued a 1-1 draw for Norway against Denmark.
Malta succumbed 1-0 to ten-man Greece in Group F.
Filip Šebo was Slovakia's match-winner.
Slovakia edged out Andorra 1-0 in their Group B encounter.
Croatia lost 1-0 at Georgia in their Group F encounter.
The Republic of Ireland are at joint top of the Euro 2012 qualifying Group B table with 10 points along with Russia and Slovakia - thanks to early strikes from Aiden McGeady and Robbie Keane.

England earned an early victory over Wales at Millennium Stadium with goals from Frank Lampard and Darren Bent giving fans a 2-0 win to celebrate. The Three Lions claimed top spot in Group G but Gary Speed’s Welsh team slumped to their fourth successive defeat in the Euro 2012 qualifiers, putting them on the bottom of the group.
England, Germany, Italy, France, Netherlands, Norway, Spain Georgia, Albania, Israel, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovakia, Greece, Montenegro, and the Republic of Ireland have one foot already in the door of the Euro 2012 finals after the weekend.

The Selecao will take on Scotland in an international friendly on March 27 at the Emirates Stadium in London.
Scotland achieved victory in an international friendly against Northern Ireland earlier this month with a 3-0 win.
Brazil lost to France in their last game 1-0 in Paris.
Scotland goalkeeper Craig Gordon says he is fit and has high hopes of playing for the Scottish national side for the big match at the Emirates Stadium.
That decision may put him on a potential collision course with Sunderland manager Steve Bruce who understandedly has concerns about further damage to the £9-million player’s troublesome knee.
The Sunderland goalie is eager to aid Scotland's battle against the World Cup quarter-finalists Brazil, despite being injured.
Sunderland manager Steve Bruce may not approve of him playing before he is completed healed and rested.
Sunderland are in ninth place in the Premiership.
Evidently Gordon is eager to help defeat the giant South American team.
“It could be a great chance for me to test it out in a big friendly,” said Gordon. “It could be an ideal scenario. It could suit everybody, but only if things go well between now and then.”
“You don’t want to get involved in a player versus club row. Nobody does.”
“I would not rule out playing for either club or country if needed. I don’t expect to play in the next few weeks for Sunderland, but if I am asked to I will,” Gordon said.
“Having said that I hope to play some part on Sunday. If I was asked to play a half for Scotland then I am able to do that. I am building it up day by day. I am hopeful. I will be able to tell as the week goes on because I will step it up.
