King's Cup Trophy Destroyed - Football Cups Tickets
Reportedly, Spain’s most treasured football trophy, the King’s Cup, slipped from the hands of Sergio Ramos, fell under the team bus and was crushed into pieces.
Real Madrid defender Ramos held the 15-kilo (33-pound) trophy above his head in an open-top bus as the triumphant team were about to enter Madrid’s central Cibeles Square, packed with fans partying throughout the night.
But he lost his grip and the Cup, which Real Madrid got their hands on just hours earlier for the first time since 1993 after a 1-0 victory over Barcelona, fell in front of the bus.
The team bus then ran over the silver trophy before stopping.
Police rushed to retrieve the Cup and gave it to the bus driver but it was not displayed to the public again.
Emergency services workers picked up at least 10 pieces of the trophy, news radio Cadena Ser reported. “It fell, it fell, it’s fine, it’s fine,” said Ramos.
Great football tickets are available now for all top football cups.
FA Cup Semi Final - Man City v Man United April 16 - Tickets
Wayne Rooney's Wonder Goal Against Manchester City
FA Cup Semi Final - Manchester City v Manchester United
Manchester City will face Manchester United this weekend in the FA Cup Semi-Final Manchester Derby at Wembley to be played on April 16-17. This will be the first time the two Manchester clubs have clashed in an FA Cup semi-final since 1926. Stoke take on Bolton in the other semi-final.
Manchester City's manager Roberto Mancini insists there is no element of revenge in the upcoming clash.
On the other hand, United hangs a banner from their stadium emphasising how much time has passed since their neighbours' last trophy 35 years ago.
In Mancini's brief time at Man City, United have recorded four wins over City, including a Carling Cup semi-final triumph last term and their latest meeting in February, which was settled by Wayne Rooney's stunning goal.
'Revenge is the wrong word," said Mancini. "Every year in football you can meet your opponent, two times minimum, maybe three or four.
'It is a great semi-final and you could see what it meant to the fans at the end. We are very close with all the top squads but we need to improve more and maybe next year we will be at the same level.
'But it is important that we played a good game at Old Trafford last time and we have a chance to win, like them.'
Ban Aganist Wayne Rooney Upheld
Wayne Rooney Banned For Two Games
Wayne Rooney, Manchester United star striker, lost his appeal against a two-match ban handed down by the Football Association.
He will not play against Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final next weekend at Wembley as a result. Roons will miss Saturday's Premier League game against Fulham as well.
Rooney was handed the suspension by the FA after swearing into a television camera following the penalty kick that completed his hat-trick against West Ham.
Rooney said through his spokesman, Ian Monk: "I am gutted to miss two matches, one of which is an FA Cup semi-final at Wembley. I am not the first player to have sworn on TV and I won't be the last.
"Unlike others who have been caught swearing on camera, I apologised immediately. And yet I am the only person banned for swearing. That doesn't seem right."
Rooney publicly apologised for his offensive language.
A statement issued by the FA read: "A Regulatory Commission has suspended Manchester United's Wayne Rooney for two matches. Rooney had admitted a charge for the use of offensive, insulting and - or abusive language, but claimed that the automatic penalty of two games was clearly excessive. "The Commission did not accept the claim and Rooney will begin the standard two match suspension with immediate effect. The charge relates to an incident during his side's fixture with West Ham United at the Boleyn Ground on Saturday 2 April 2011."
United responded on their official website, "Manchester United is clearly very disappointed with the Regulatory Commission's decision. The club put forward a very strong case to have the punishment reduced, which was unsuccessful.
"Wayne Rooney apologised immediately after the match and the club now wishes to move to on to what hopefully will be a very exciting conclusion to the season."
Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini said that he was disappointed Rooney would not take part in the FA Cup semi-final.
"I am disappointed because when we play a game like this it is important all the best players play," he said. "Should the FA punish players in this way? I do not know. I think the managers and players here have a lot of respect for the referee and the FA."
Sir Alex Ferguson Receives Ban for Man United's Next Five Matches
Sir Alex Ferguson Receives Ban
Ferguson has 48 hours to appeal a ruling that bans him from the touchline for Manchester United's next five matches. Ferguson was angry about referee Atkinson's officiating of a 2-1 defeat for the Premier League leaders. He decided to fight the charge against the recommendation of United's legal advisers and lost.
Ferguson has also been fined £30,000 after the FA decided to take a hardline stance.
The case against Ferguson was that he alleged bias on Atkinson's part by saying that he should not have been appointed for the Chelsea game because the occasion demanded "a fair referee."
Ferguson appeared to bring Atkinson's integrity into question when he previously claimed "in matches like this you want a fair referee" in his interview with the club's in-house television station MUTV. He went on to explain he had "feared the worst" when he discovered Atkinson was going to referee the game,
Ferguson's ban does not start until March 22nd, meaning he will be available for Man Utd's match against Bolton Wanderers at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Fergie's ban will start with West Ham, followed by a home match against Fulham and the all-Manchester Derby FA Cup semi-final at Wembley.
Ferguson already had a suspended two-match touchline ban from a previous charge, when he had accused Alan Wiley of being physically unfit to referee in the Premier League. That ban has now been invoked and Ferguson will also be banned from United's dugout in a home game against Everton and the Manchester Derby with Manchester City.
