Ancelotti Deciding Between Torres and Drogba For Chelsea v Man Utd

Chelsea FC v Manchester United

Loosing is not an option for either Man Utd or Chelsea at this point in the campaign.

Carlo Ancelotti, Chelsea manager is deciding whether or not to opt for Didier Drogba over Fernando Torres for their upcoming clash with Manchester United - although he may reportedly risk the wrath of Roman Abramovich if he leaves Torres off the starting lineup.

Fernando Torres is fit and confident - however he appears willing to sit on the Old Trafford substitutes’ bench on Sunday if Ancelotti starts Didier Drogba in Chelsea’s title defining fixture with United.

Ancelotti used both the Spaniard and Ivorian in his starting line-up during last weekend’s win over Tottenham.

Torres’ solitary goal in the home victory against West Ham sparked hope that once El Nino's goal drought was over - the goals would flow.

After a hat-trick against West Brom on the opening day of the season, Drogba has scored only sporadically with a Premier League total of 12 goals.

Reportedly Ancelotti will not make his final decision on which personnel will fill his front line until his players arrive in Manchester for the fixture.

Fernando Torres Believes Chelsea Can Win Premiership: Chelsea Tickets

Fernando Torres, Chelsea

Chelsea

Chelsea FC is in third place in the Premiership, behind Manchester United and Arsenal. The Blues have upcoming clashes against Stoke and Manchester United.

Fernando Torres is convinced that Chelsea can still defend and retain their Premier League crown.

"Yes, there are a lot of points between us and the top...," said Torres.

"The teams at the top of the table still have to come to our ground. So we have to play until the last game.

"A month ago it looked like we couldn't fight for a position at the top of the table and in three matches things change.

"If we win we can take third place with a game in hand over them which would be a big boost for our confidence levels."

El Nino has not scored a goal yet for Chelsea.

"There is no pressure," he insisted. "People make me feel welcome here and as long as the team is winning things are going to be easier. The goals will arrive."

David Beckham Praises Chicharito

David Beckham, LA Galaxy

LA Galaxy superstar David Beckham has some good advice for Man United striker Chicharito.

"Enjoy playing for Manchester United. It’s the best club in the world."

Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez is growing into an outstanding player under the management of Sir Alex Ferguson..

"Chicharito has been exceptional when he’s played," said Beckham.

"He scores goals, he takes chances, he works hard for the team.

"It’s great to see that. It’s great to see a young player doing really well who is from a different part of the world. To go to Manchester United and do well is exceptional."

"He wouldn’t be in the team and he wouldn’t be scoring goals if Sir Alex Ferguson didn’t think he was a good player," Beckham said.

"It says a lot that he’s playing, it says a lot that he’s getting minutes on the field, obviously, the manager thinks a lot of him. Good luck to him."

Fernando Torres Ready For Champions League Draw

Fernando Torres - "It was a good game for us with a lot of chances."

Fernando Torres is hoping to score his first goal for Chelsea since his record-breaking move from Liverpool on transfer deadline day. He is pleased that Chelsea has advanced to the Champions League Semi-Finals.

"The main thing is to get chances. You have to be worried when, at the end of the game, the team didn't create chances.

"We will score in almost every game."

His partner Didier Drogba, has now gone nine matches without scoring. Drogba is adamant that he and Torres can forge a striking partnership.

"I think we are mature enough and clever enough to play together," he said.

"There's no question about this."

Torres said, "It doesn't matter who we play," in regards to Chelsea's Champions League Semi Finals draw.

"At the end of the day, if you want to win the Champions League, if not in the quarter-final then the semi-final or the final, you will have to play against the best teams in Europe.

"So it doesn't matter who we have to play against."

“I’ve spent my life trying to win and looking for titles. I have been lucky enough to win the European Championship and the World Cup with Spain. But as a footballer you also want to win with your club, the team you train with every day, and the reason why you are living and playing abroad. Chelsea are going to give me that chance this year, the next and the next. Over the next 50 years the club will be fighting with the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal. Chelsea have an owner who continues to invest in the squad, an owner who has a dream and an owner who will not stop until his dream comes true.

“There was only one team that could offer what I wanted, especially as I wanted to stay in England. Chelsea confirmed their interest in the January transfer window after having already tried and failed in the summer.

“I did not fancy a move to Manchester City, or a move to Manchester United out of respect and loyalty to Liverpool. I couldn’t let this chance pass me by.”

Premier League Upcoming Matches

The buzz in the Premier League is about Arsenal receiving two disgracefull decisions in their recent game with Liverpool.

Nani was carried off and sidelined as a result of an injury inflicted by Carragher’s first-half tackle during the 3-1 defeat at Anfield - which resulted in referee Phil Dowd brandishing a yellow card to the Liverpool defender.

Jamie Carragher was not sent off for a blatant assault on Nani. It was a high, reckless, illegal tackle - and a red should have been shown. Carragher recieved only a yellow for the tackle, while Edwin van der Sar recieved the same punishment for simply expressing his anger at the decision. The high tackle resulted in a deep wound and it is the height of the tackle which is the despairing part of it - without douby, Jamie Carragher should not have been allowed to stay on the pitch.

Going into the weekend, Manchester United sits on top of the English Premiership followed by arch-rival Arsenal. The rivalry between Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsène Wenger is intense this campaign with Manchester united and Arsenal in direct competition for the FA Cup and Premier League trophies.

Wayne Rooney "Fortunate" to Escape Three Match Ban for Elbow

Wayne Rooney

Popular Man Utd superstar, Wayne Rooney was "fortunate" to avoid a red card and three match ban. He scored the only goal for Manchester United tonight in their 2-1 loss to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in London.

Rooney escaped any retrospective sanctions from the Football Association, despite television replays clearly showing the striker thrusting his elbow into Wigan's James McCarthy’s head last weekend.

The FA insisted that, as referee Mark Clattenburg had decided he had dealt with the incident appropriately at the time, it was powerless under FIFA law to take any further action against the England international.

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said Rooney had been lucky to escape punishment for his “silly” attack.

“The rules are straight and clearly there,” Ferguson said. “Mark Clattenburg dealt with it, he spoke to the player and gave the free-kick to Wigan. That was the end of the story."

“The one person who comes out with great credit is the referee himself as he was obviously under tremendous pressure, probably from the Football Association and from the media, which we expected. It’s over with.

“Wayne is a bit fortunate. It was a clash but nothing serious that hurt the player. Nonetheless, it was a silly thing to do.”
