"We have reached an agreement on Pavlyuchenko's transfer," Lokomotiv president Olga Smorodskaya was quoted as saying by Russian news agencies. "Roman is a Lokomotiv player."

Reports said that Lokomotiv will pay Tottenham £11 million for the services of the 30-year-old striker, who is expected to arrive in Moscow later Wednesday to undergo medical testing before signing a contract with the side.

Tottenham have confirmed the agreement and expressed their gratitude to the striker, who joined the club in the 2008 from Spartak Moscow and has played 113 matches with Spurs scoring 42 goals.

"We have reached agreement for the transfer of Roman Pavlyuchenko to Lokomotiv Moscow," said Tottenham's official website. "We thank Roman for his contribution and wish him every success for the future."

The forward has also won 45 caps for his country, scoring 20 goals and was an a key forward in the team that reached the Euro 2008 semi-finals.

The transfer of Pavlyuchenko - who had been unsettled for the last few months at the London club - is the latest move by a Russian star back to his homeland.

Spartak Moscow in January signed Russian international midfielder Diniyar Bilyaletdinov from Everton while last year star defender Yuri Zhirkov joined Anzhi Makhachkala from Chelsea.
