David de Gea Statement Regarding Transfer to Man United
GOALKEEPER DAVID de GEA MAY TRANSFER TO MAN UTD THIS SUMMER
Rumors are in circulation that Man United has signed Atletico Madrid’s talented goalkeeper, David De Gea, to replace superstar Manchester United goalkeeper, Edwin van der Sar, who retires after United’s Champions League Final clash with FC Barcelona on Saturday.
However De Gea stated that he will not decide on his future until June 30.
The 20-year-old Spanish Under-21 international reportedly is on the verge of sealing a summer transfer to Old Trafford.
Sir Alex Ferguson recently issued a glowing assessment of him in terms of replacing retiring goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar.
“He’s a young goalkeeper, very quick, good composure, presence and an outstanding replacement for Van der Sar.” said Ferguson on Tuesday night.
De Gea’s lawyer has issued a statement insisting no deal has been finalised – and that De Gea wants to focus on Spain’s involvement in the upcoming European Under-21 tournament in Denmark on June 11.
A statement that was released to Spanish news agency EFE states, “News has appeared in various media outlets today that Atletico Madrid’s David De Gea has signed for Manchester United. I hereby notify you that it is not true a deal has been signed.”
“De Gea will not consider the contract extension offer from Atletico or any other offer until June 30 when he has finished his commitments with the Under-21 national team.”
Sir Alex Ferguson Not Worried About Lionel Messi

Alex Ferguson says that his side are fit for their Champions League Final clash with Barcelona on Saturday at Wembley Stadium in London.
Fergie adamently stated that neither he nor United are scared by Lionel Messi.
Although Messi has scored an astonishing 52 goals in Barca's amazing 2010-11 season, Sir Alex is confident that his side can stop Messi from controlling the match at Wembley.
“We’ve played against Barcelona three times with Messi in the team and there’s always a solution to every good player – and we hope we can find a solution on Saturday.
“But you’ve also got to recognise that they have other good players and we have good players, and that is why it’s such an appealing game.
“But I’m sure Barcelona are aware of the threats we can offer, and hopefully that is the case.
“I’ve just got to trust my players that they can perform on Saturday and that makes a difference.
“I know they’ll be ready.”

“At this stage of the season, it is all about staying focused on the next game and not looking too far ahead. We've got good experience in the squad and we're in a great position, but I don't like to say too much about what we could achieve because it hasn't happened yet. It's an exciting time, but you can't take anything for granted,” remarked Man Utd goalkeeper, Edwin van der Sar about Man United’s upcoming final clashes.
“You never stop learning in life and it's the same in football. It's not just during the games - even in training, you're always learning. That's very important because every time you step out onto the pitch, you have to be on your toes and be ready for all the things that can happen,” Van der Sar continued.
“There's a good mix of youth and experience in our squad. On one hand, you have a young player who brings maybe enthusiasm and fresh legs and, on the other, you have the experienced guys who have the knowledge of the game and the composure in important situations.”
“It's important to stay focused on ourselves but you always keep an eye on your rivals as well. I think it's important to know what other teams are doing and to see how they play when they're in winning and losing positions.”
“Everyone in the squad feels good and is ready for the challenges ahead. At this stage of the season, you've just got to take it game by game and week by week.”
